Together Receives Newest NIH Grant: Identifying Undiagnosed Dementia

Written by Together Senior Health | Jun 9, 2023 2:05:12 PM

On June 9, Together Senior Health received its 4th Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the NIH’s National Institute on Aging, entitled “A Novel Algorithm to Identify People with Undiagnosed Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias.” More than half of the 6.5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) do not have a diagnosis, which can lead to poor quality of care for these patients and inadequate reimbursement for health plan costs of care. The funds from this award will be used to develop “RADAR” (Risk of Alzheimer’s and Dementia AlgoRithm), which will provide Medicare Advantage plans and risk-bearing healthcare organizations a unique tool to identify individuals at high risk of undiagnosed dementia.

RADAR expands Together’s brain health offerings to provide a full suite of solutions from member identification through therapeutic interventions and prevention. Together’s initial product, Moving Together™, is an evidence-based digital solution that improves cognitive and physical function, prevents falls, and reduces avoidable utilization, leading to improved business and clinical outcomes. Other solutions include Brain Health Together, which integrates the Moving Together™ curriculum with additional behavioral interventions designed to slow the pace of cognitive decline for those with mild cognitive impairment or subjective cognitive decline. Adding RADAR to our product suite will enable us to better support our customers and improve quality of life for people living with ADRD and those who care for them. Together is creating a world where older adults impacted by memory loss live their best lives.
